About Our School
J.G. Whittier Education Campus is located in Ward 4, Northwest Washington, D.C. Our school serves nearly 400 students in grades Headstart through 6. Over the next 2 school years, the school will be expanded to service 7th and 8th graders. While children of African-American descent are the school's majority population, an increasing number of children with Hispanic, African, and Caribbean backgrounds are enrolling.
Whittier uses a team approach for instruction where teachers work collaboratively. Student performance is monitored and instruction is modified to meet their individual needs.
Whittier exceeded the annual yearly progress, (AYP) goals for reading and math during School Year 2006-2007. Whittier has exceeded AYP goals for reading and math over 5 of the past 6 school years.
Our teaching staff, support staff, administration, parents, and community are committed to maintaining an environment where children are first.
